Monday

CORRECTION: FINAL BLOG

I couldn't resist :). This will be my final web design blog. I am very sad to be leaving web design. I have had lots of good times in this class. Blogging, lists, colors, HTML, images, links... I enjoyed this class much more than I thought I would, since I am generally NOT good at technology.
However, instead of ending this blog on a low note, I will end on a high one, just like Brooks & Dunn last night.
This weekend was filled with studying. However, I kept my nights open to have a break. Sunday my dad went out of town, so we did go out to lunch at La Duni before.
Hey, Ellen. This will be your final shoutout.
Sadly, I must go. Wish me luck on my finals! Have a great summer!

Wednesday

FINAL BLOG

This will be my last blog post, as we have our web exams tomorrow and Friday. As much as I would love to blog on Monday, I can't count on it. I would like to thank ESD Web design for letting me blog this semester, and Nancy and Ellie for inspiring me. I have learned a lot this semester, and I will miss coming to third period web design class at the end of senior hall very much. Ellie, through good blogs and bad blogs, you have kept my chin up. Your cleerful shark comments and cat comments have uplifted me. Nancy, you have made me laugh so many times! I am glad you got your contacts in :).
And now, on to the happy blogging that you all love. Tomorrow is greys anatomy. wow. Friday is the Honors Assembly, and afterwards we will get our yearbooks! Tonight is The Middle and Modern Family as well, and I'm super excited for that one!! This weekend will mostly be spent studying for exams, and wishing for summer.

thank you. <3 annie

summer!!!!

I am sooo excited for summer!!! I am finally taking drivers ed, and am going on a mission trip through an organization called EEY to New Orleans with my friend Emily and her friend Jackie! I'm really excited to go :). Once a week until August I will be volunteering at Scottish Rite for the afternoon with my friend Amelia, which I can't wait for! In July we are going to Rosemary Beach, and in August we are going to Estes Park and the Broadmoor!! I'm going to miss seeing my friends everday though :(.

Tuesday

2 days/7 days

Either way, this is our last full week, as we get out next Thursday. After exams, our grade is having a party at Katie's house! I can't believe how fast this year has gone by, and I'm going to miss everyone so much over the summer!!! (Hey Ellen)

Monday

3 days...

So technically we only have three days of school left, because Thursday and Monday are dead days and Friday is the Honors Assembly. I hope we get our yearbooks soon!!! Sadly, we only have a few days left in web design class, and our final is Thursday I think. I am going to miss blogging very much :(.
hey ellen.
Greys anatomy is in 4 days!
This weekend was just my brother, my dad, and I so I didn't do much. Saturday Katie and I finished our history presentation, and Sunday I had NCL. So besides that I just hung out and watched Friends...

Friday

9 days

ONLY 9 DAYS LEFT OF SCHOOL! And three of them are exam days and one is the Honors Assembly!!! Today is the seniors last day, which is sad! I'm going to be very sad when I'm a senior. It seems like its a weird feeling. But anyways, tonight I'm excited to hang out with friends, and my mom is in Malibu! Well not yet but she's flying there right now! I'm sooo jealous of her! This weekend will mostly be school related, because I have a bio test on Monday and Katie and I have to work on our world cultures project. Our religion is Jehovah's Witness, and we've made pretty good progress so far. Today, Kathryn's sister MAY bring food for our table, but she may not be able to. It's so nice of her to!
I'm really not worried about my exams...except for LATIN. ARGGGG!!! I hate Latin strongly and it's the first exam I have to take too :(

Greys and private practice last night were sooooooooo good! I didn't get to watch private practice, but Lauren filled me in! :( ending! And next week is going to be amazing!

Thursday

summer reading

First of all, shoutout to Ellen Sliva.

Second, I'm trying to decide what to read for my summer reading books. My requiremts are to read The Lord of the Flies, one book from the Classic Lit, one from World Lit OR Multi-Cultural Lit, and one on my choice from any list. There are 19 lists to choose from.
I am still deciding on my required picks...
My free choice book will probs be Death on the Nile or The Memory Keeper's Daughter. Both Nancy and Ellie read Death on the Nile and said it was good, and Nancy loved Memory Keeper's Daughter.
Ugh it's a tough decision, you don't want to waste your summer on reading books you're not interested in, so I want to pick good ones on the first try.

An another note, in World Cultures today we had a guest speaker. It was Mrs. NG's daughter who had just completed a semester at sea. I would LOVE to do that when I'm on college because so far in my life I have never left the continent. There are so many places to see!!! Katie is interested too, and you never know. One day maybe we will go together!

10 days...

Tuesday

12 days....

Ahhh only 12 days left!! I can't wait, but I'm sad web design will be ending :[. Today I don't have much homework, so the majority of my time after school time can be spent watching Castle, Idol, Gilmore Girls, and Greys. YES.
Ellie is doing a fabulous job on our website project! She picked the colors and did the layout while Nancy and I researched. Check it out soon!!

Monday

weekend/today

Such a great weekend! Friday I hung out with some friends and we had a lot of fun :]. Saturday I did abseloutley nothing. It felt sooooooo good! Sunday was Mothers Day! We went to my grandparents house for a family dinner, and for her present we gave my mom some earings she wanted from ylang 23!
This weekend my mom is going to visit her friend Kaira in Malibu!!!!! I'm so jealous I wish I could go with her!

COUNTDOWN TO SUMMER: 13 DAYS

Thursday

today in school

Once again...a Latin test. I strongly dislike Latin because it does NOT come easily to me, like it does to most of my class. We have a test tomorrow, and I don't really know how I feel about it. Aside from the pronouns, I feel pretty confident, but lukewarm all the same.
I also have a math test tomorrow. I really like math and have done really well this year, but this is a pretty involved chapter which makes me nervous.
I also have an English quiz, but that won't be bad at all. 10 minutes to study, tops.
In English we have been reading Catcher in the Rye. I actually like it, aside from Holden's sinisism and swearing in it.
In world cultures we are studying the West Indies, along with Central and Southern America. It's pretty gruesome, because we have been watching this extremely violent movie called End of the Spear.

Wednesday

news....

Tonight I barely have any homework. I just have to read Catcher in the Rye, do math homework, study for an upcoming Latin test, and study for a World Cultures quiz. Yay! This leaves my plenty of time to watch my wednesday night shows!
Last night, my family and I were discussing the oil spill and how it may effect our trip to Rosemary Beach. It most likely won't, but if we cancel it, we (meaning I) came up with our top alternative trips: Switzerland, Italy, Hawaii, or Spain. I love Rosemary Beach, but I almost, almost hope we don't go this year...
The other day at lunch, my friends and I were discussing our celebrity twins. We decided Emily Fitz was identical to Lexie Grey from Greys, and I was voted to be Amanda Seyfried. I'm pretty sure that's a good thing...

Tuesday

favorites

Copying Nancy, I am going to blog about my favorites.

books- The Firm, The Bourne series, 19 Minutes

movies- Notting Hill, 27 dresses, father of the bride

music- Eli Young Band, Rascal Flatts, Zac Brown Band, T Swift, Carrie Underwood

tv shows- Castle, Gilmore Girls, Greys Anatomy, Modern Family, the Middle

hmm cant think of much else...

end of the year

Today is Tuesday. Only 3 MORE MONDAYS AND TUESDAYS YAY!!!!!! I cannot believe how fast this year has gone by! It still feels like October to me. I'm going to miss seeing everyone everyday when summers here! And, sadly, my blog posts will be discontinued :(.

On the upside, next year my friends (including ellen) might be taking web design, so everyone can read their blogs!!

Monday

Weekend

My weekend was pretty quiet. Saturday my mom and I shopped in Snider Plaza, then got our nails done. This was pretty cool, though, because we went to get jeans hemmed at Lien's on Lovers by HPHS, and the metal awning on a few of the buildings next door had collapsed! No one was hurt, but to be safe they had at least 5 fire trucks, 1 ambulance, UP, HP, and Dallas police, and we saw news helicopters hovering above. It was crazy!!!
The Kentucky Derby was so fun to watch! My mom had picked Super Saver beccause she liked the name, and he won! My favorite name was Mission Impazible!

Friday

blog war

Nancy and I are in a blog post WAR! But I will win!
Ellen Sliva promised me a chocolate cake, and there isn't one. She PROMISED and didn't come through. This is unacceptable.

Weekend

Hey all
So far, I'm not doing as much as usual this weekend. FINALLY I HAVE NO COMMUNITY SERVICE!!!! Tonight I get to hang with my friend Amelia! I haven't seen her in forever, and she has just started a new charity!! I'm so excited for her! It's called Unite the World to Jump, and the tshirts just came in. All profits for her future fundraisers will go to an orphanage in Zambia. Tomorrow there's the last school dance (Blackout B10wout) of the year, but it's my parents anniversary so I can't go :(. But at least I'll have twenty more to go to the rest of high school. Anyways, everyone is supposed to wear black which would have been really fun. Sunday I get to work on my Latin project (which I haven't started on...), but it won't be too difficult. Welll thats all I got for now.

Wednesday

Project Update

Our project is coming along great!! Ellie's logo is fantastic, is looks so great!! And Nancy has come up with 7 PAGES of verbs info for us to use. I'm doing pretty fab also...my culture info is complete with pictures. The page is looking snazzy and the colors are great! We should be done in a matter of days!

Monday

oceans

saw oceans.
shark obsession over.
onto the next disney nature movie....african cats

Friday

France and oceans

HELLO BLOGGERS
OCEANS is out so get excited!!!
My friend Ellen got this app called photochop and put a shark behind this one picture of me. It was really funny because Ellen is such a jokester....right now I'm finding French culture for our project, and while getting pictures of French food I got sooo hungry! I'm dying for some French toast! Nancy is finding verb translations, etc, and Ellie is at Wolf Run today. so yep hopefully we'll make some great progress on our project.

shark-tastic

internet weirdness

So, I was surfing the web with my friend Ellie today in web design, and since we are so shark savvy we decided to search for "cutie pie shark" pictures on Google.

This is what we found...

internet is strange?

Thursday

sharkies

check it out ;-) lovelovelove sharks!

Wednesday

news

this is a CRAZY week! I got back last night from my advisory's wold run trip, and did homework for about 5 hours! I have endless projects and tests, and exams are in almost a month!! ahh!
Wolf run was fun, and we helped the 5th graders on their overnight. I really hope I wasn't that annoying as a 5th grader...Kirby and I had a lot of fun on the bus! We played Life and name that building :). I missed being with ellie and nancy in web degign though...
Ellen told me a funny expresion she heard: honest to blog. I'm definetly gonna start using that one.
We have a new project in web design. It's to create a web page for someone in the school. I have a few ideas, but none of them are that great. Maybe I'll make for Ellen and sharks? comment with ideas...

Friday

dreamweaver

In web design, we've been working with notepad to make HTML pages. We have just started something new, though, called Dreamweaver! It's really cool, and sooo much easier than HTML codes are. All we have to do is type the info up, select colors/fonts, and all the codes are done for us! I think I'm going to like using Dreamweaver a lot!

Friday

Today is Friday! Unfortunatley, Ellie and Nancy are not here. They have left me and gone to ISAS at St. Marks for choir/theatre productions :(. Ellie said they were singling Glee songs (oh yeah!), I really wish I could be there to cheer them on. My brother and dad are at the Master's in Agusta, so its just me, my mom, and our lab Rosie at home!
Tomorrow is gonig to be a very busy day! I have community service from 9-2, then I have to get with my partner to work on our biology project. I'm babysitting my brother tomorrow night because my parents will be at the ESD auction. Sunday, me and my mom have to go to a lunch for the seniors in the mother/daughter charity league we're in.
Monday, my advisory is going to Wolf Run for the night! I'm sxcited because I like my advisory. Kirby and Emily will be there, which is really fun. We're going to be working with the 5th graders and help them with some project.

Tuesday

Pirates of Silicon Valley

In web design class, we just finished watching the movie Pirates of Silicon Valley. It is a movie that follows Steve Jobs through his creation of Apple Computers, and Bill Gates and the development of Microsoft and Windows.
Personally, I would rather work for Bill Gates, even though Apple is probably more sucessful in terms of progress (the iPad is amazing!). Steve Jobs was very selfish and bossy, and not in a good way. At first, Jobs and Steve were in it together. But after gaining fame, Jobs didn't care about the company itself, only about the money and being first to develop everything. He was the "villian" to Bill Gates' "hero". Jobs lost his values and denied his family. He only cared for wealth and power.
Bill Gates was a lot "cooler" and composed, and he rarely lost his temper. Jobs ran around the office yelling at everyone all day. I would much rather work in his office, because I believe he would be easier to get along with and more understanding. I think he wouldn't have "lost himself" in the power and fame, and would keep developing computers because it was what he loved.

birthday!

Today's my birthday!! I'm so excited! But sad...Ellie is not here today. But Nancy is! Anyways, tonight we're doing dinner and gifts and such and I can't wait!
Also, I'm working on my free tables page. And ideas what signature information means? comment...

Monday

WeEkEnD

this weekend was SO fun! and my birthday is tomorrow!!!!!!!! I am so excited! this weekend was one of the best EVER! here's why...
On Saturday night, I has my pre-birthday party with friends, which was really fun! Too bad Nancy couldn't come! But luckily Ellie and the rest of my pals made it. We went to Cibus at northpark and ate in the private room there! Then we went to see the bounty hunter! It was sooo fun!!! (btw- thanks for the candy ellie!) On Sunday, I barely had any homework. So I just got to hang out in the morning, and at 3 I went to Emily's house to help her make welcome gifts for the new families coming to ESD! We had so much fun! That night, we decided to have a pre-bday family dinner at Mattito's, one of my favorite restaurants! Because I helped Emily till about 5, my mom picked me up and we drove straight to dinner to meet my dad and brother. I walked in and saw my grandparents, who live in Georgia! They had driven all the way here from Georgia to suprise me! It was such a fun weekend I will never forget it!

Friday

Spring Break = FIN

Well, spring break is over :(. But is was super fun! Me and my friend Ellen rode bikes one day and then went to the new whole foods for dinner! yay! and my neighbord paid me $350 for watching their dogs! They made a check out to me and everything. I've never had a check made out to me before, but there's a first for everything right! lol! And then I did a lot of hanging out with friends and family in town. Me and my OTHER friend named Ellen took our brothers to see diary of a wimpy kid-lol it was too cute! our brothers loved it while Ellen and I watched them laugh at cheese and Halloween mishaps and such! Well, I'm back in school and ready for the weekend! lol comment!

update

So we get to design our own web page in web design! and suggestions of what I should do mine on? Colors? Themes? comment

Wednesday

Tables

This week in web design class, we are focusing on tables and our tables page. Mine is pretty fab, you can get to it through www.esdeagles.com/walkera. Tables are pretty simple, if you want to add padding or borders or merged cells you just add it on the original tag. This is really easy because sometimes you have to add entirely new tags that are really complicated. While making our tables pages, I saw Nancy and Ellie making theirs. Nancy's is so cute and Ellie's is just plain awesome. Check theirs out at www.esdeagles.com/collinse and www.esdeagles/burrown.

Friday

weakest webpage

So far, my weakest webpage is probably my Images page, because there is a lot of information on it. At first I would say it was my about html, but as the class has gone on I've been able to tweak it here and there to make the font smaller, which was a real problem for it! The font size was about 40!!! Anyways, my images page looks good, but isn't as creative (like my awesome colors page! ;)) since I was so worried about getting all the information up. All in all, i think my pages have turned out pretty cool! check them out at www.esdeagles.com/walkera!

Thursday

Spring break!!

I am so excited for spring break! But this year, for the first time in a while, we are staying here. Luckily I have friends who are staying too so I won't be too bored! We usually go to Rosemary Beach in Florida and stay at my grandparents house there, but its booked this year! Also on the up side, though, is that my neighbors are paying me $50 a day to watch their dogs for 7 DAYS. So, even though it isn't as fun as going somewhere, I know I'll have fun here too!

Monday

html update

So far, I would say that images and keeping the page "pretty" have been the hardest for me. There are so many different kinds of images, like JPGs and PNGs and PSDs, and they all vary with how they present the image on the web. There's also so many codes, that sometimes you forget to end one and then it throws the whole page off! The font will be huge, it will all be linked, or even simple spelling mistakes! But over the oast few weeks, I've really been able to get the hang of it!

more color

I just uploaded my web page to file zilla, the software we have been using in web design. I've come a long way since January and actually remember the codes. You can see my page through this website: www.esdeagles.com/walkera. Just click on the Project 1 link, which will take you to my images page. There will be a link to my color page at the top of images! It was really fun finding and editing the pictures I put up, and it was cool to have more freedom with what we were writing about. We were able to research and do it all ourselves!

Thursday

Sadies!

Last weekend was the Sadie Hawkins dance at my school! It was really fun and we got to dress up too because it was a theme. This year the theme was cowboys vs. indians!! I got to hang out with all my friends (like ells and nancy-lol!) too and we had a great time! cant wait for next year!

colors!

I just finished my color page! It's my favorite so far because of how colorful it is! I have a couple of diffrent patterns that went throught the page, and they look great. Thank goodness for adobe kuler though! I got all my colors from that website. On my page, I covered topics like color blindness, the color codes, and how to find good colors. I also posted a link to a website that tests your webpage to see how it would look to a color blind person.

LINKS

We have combined our images page with a new section on links! Sometimes it's hard to get everything doen correctly, but I've caught on! I've added links that will take me to a new website, another section of the same site, and even pictures! My favorite one is the Images as Links kind because you can click on a picture and it will take you to a website. I tried uploading a link to my page, but for some reason it doesn't work :(. Anywho, links are definetly easier now than they were at first!

my logo

We just finished creating our own logos! Mine is really cool! I made it using Filezilla and it was hard to figure out how to unload at first, but I had some help and figured it out! Here it is...What do you think? Comment if you want...

MORE SNOW

TECHNOLOGY & SCHOOL

I use my phone all the time for school purposes! I have my FirstClass email account as an app on it so I can check my email for news at any time, which is so easy. I can google anything I want to know about for research on my phone too. We're lucky and can have our phones out in the hallway all the time, some teachers let you have it on your desk during class. My old school, HP, would have a heart attack if you had your phone out in the hallway or class.

SNOW

It's snowing!! I can't believe how much snow we've gotten this year! It's so pretty and fun but we STILL have school. Ursuline, Parish, Jesuit, and Cistercian are out today! We are literally three blocks from Usruline and are still here. We are between Parish and Ursuline and are still here. AHH. But luckily there's a meeting going on right now to discuss an early release because the weather is supposed to get worse at about 12.
Ellie is so lucky because she's at Wolf Run today! I wish she was here blogging but I'm sure she's having a blast in the snow there too!
Haha my brother is in school too! HP didn't get a snow day either....

Tuesday

COCA-COLA

Coca-Cola's logo! I love it because it's still old fashioned looking, like things were when Coca-Cola was founded.

LOVE LOGOS

I've never really thought much about logos and how effective they really are before today, but I've learned a lot already. The best ones aren't too showy and don't have too much going on. They are simple but still interesting and eye-catching. My favorites are probably Coca-Cola, Starbucks, World Wildlife Fund, and NBC. The five qualities of a good logo are: describable, relevant, scalable, memorable, and effective without colour. Coca-Cola's logo is easy to read, and even without the red, would still be memorable for me. It's font is neat but still fun. Starbucks is a classic and definitely memorable and "scalable". I really like the WWF logo because of the picture of the panda bear- it stands out but isn't too big. It's cute but not over the top. Lastly, the colors of the NBC logo are really fun and eye-catching, and I think it would still be a good logo without those colors because of its design.

Friday

HTML blog

So far, HTML hasn't been too hard for me. The basic codes are easy to remember but some of the others can get a little complicated though. But so far my pages look good and following the directions is easy too.

My First Blog

I just made this blog for my web design class at ESD and I am in 9th grade. This is my first blog and I'm supposed to test it for designs, layouts, and annoying ads.
So far so good.
Today is Friday and I can't wait till summer. Last semester I was in yearbook but its over so now I'm taking web design and had to switch world cultures from third to first period. My Christmas was great. We went to Rosemary Beach to my grandparents house there and it was really fun. Ellie is sitting next to me and typing her new blog too. She's also using Blogger. We have to have two blogs this semester and this is my first. Her's really good too. You should go to her awesome blog at collinse.blogspot.com. i have to go start another blog now, so bye!
